Program Expectations

Athlete Injury / Trainer

Doctor's Note

No indefinite doctors’ notes will be accepted. In other words, all doctors’ notes must specify what the athlete can and cannot do. The doctors’ notes must give a time frame for when the athlete may return to training. Per our injury policy, the athlete must have a note from the doctor or the high school trainer.

Athletic Trainer

If an athlete needs to see the trainer, the parent must accompany the athlete. You will enter at the double doors on the left side of the gym. The training room office hours are 6:30-7:00 am. Someone from the athletic training staff will see them. The phone number is 936-856-1269.

If you are sick or injured, a parent's note is NOT acceptable. A doctor’s note is preferred. No indefinite doctor’s notes. In other words, all notes must specify what the athlete can and cannot do. If an athlete needs to see the trainer, a parent or/ guardian must accompany them. The Willis High School trainer’s hours are from 6:30 am to 7:30 am. The phone number for the training room is 936-856-1269 or you can email Scott McClatchy, the Head Trainer at the High School, at mmcclatchy@willisisd.org.
We know that there are times when you are not at your best, but we ask that you try your best to participate each day when you are at school. We can modify the workload/expectations based on the injury/sickness that is approved by the trainer or doctor.
Please do not schedule any doctor/dentist appointments during practice times. All injured players are still required to be at practice and be dressed in Brabham athletic attire.
If your daughter will have to miss practice for any reason, please call or email her coach or the athletic coordinator to plan accordingly.

Register for Athletics on Rank One

To be cleared for participation by Willis ISD prior to the 2026-2027 school year, please review this information and complete the steps outlined in this section.

Step 1: Rank One

Willis ISD uses Rank One for our athletic and fine arts participation management software. The Willis ISD Rank One Parent Portal will guide you through the steps that must be submitted prior to participation for the 2026-2027 school year. The UIL Acknowledgement and Emergency Information documents are required and MUST be completed prior to any type of participation in UIL sanctioned activities.

Step 2: Pre-Participation Physical

Based upon minimum requirements for participation in UIL activities, and for the utmost concern regarding student safety, Willis ISD requires an annual physical on file in the WHS Athletic Training Office, dated April 1st or after, for the upcoming school year. Per UIL policy requirement, this form must be on file prior to participation in any practice, scrimmage, performance or contest before, during or after school.

This completed and signed form can be submitted via the RankOne Parent Portal in the link in Step 1 above.
